[ listen she's fine with this!!! she's just surprised he agreed!!! ]

[ she scrolls through her phone. ]

Any song requests, Lance?

[Of course he agreed!!]

Surprise me.

[He pushes himself up off the bed, holding a hand out to her.]

Alright.

[ she does a bit of searching before she settles on a norah jones song. she rises to her feet and smiles a little wider when she takes his hand. ]

Does this work?

[thegoofball]

It works perfectly.

[He feels...more awkward, now that he's doing this sober, but he steps close and starts off slowly.]

[highelves]

[ so does she. she sets her hands on his shoulders and follows his lead, letting out a little laugh. ]

So...

So?

[He doesn't do anything too flashy, this time, mostly focused on keeping them on beat. At least Ana's not flailing.]

Nothing. This is just...nice.

It is, isn't it?

Much better than regular dancing, anyway.

[ she chuckles. ]

How have you been, by the way?

[thegoofball]

[You just say that because you're bad at dancing, Ana.]

I've been okay. Kind of...regretting that I didn't get to join everyone at the big fight.

[highelves]

[ ah. she frowns a little. ]

Why is that?

[thegoofball]

Well...

[He hesitates, before letting out a breath.]

Everyone was there, doing their part, but I...didn't do anything. At all.

[highelves]

You shouldn't feel guilty.

[ she closes her eyes, still moving to the music, but... ]

It was...a lot, out there. If you didn't feel as though you were ready, nobody will fault you for it.

But I could have helped. I don't think any of us were ready for it, so that's not...really a good excuse.

[highelves]

...There's no point in dwelling on it, Lance. Just be prepared to join us when the next battle happens.

[ she sounds like she's speaking from experience. ]

For what it's worth, [ she gently squeezes his shoulder. ] I'm glad that both of us are still here.

...Right.

[He gives her a small smile.]

Me, too. I'm glad you made it out okay.

[highelves]

[ she gives him a small smile in return and nods. ]

I couldn't let myself lose when I owed you another dance.

[thegoofball]

[He can't help himself. He laughs, shaking his head.]

You didn't owe me anything.

[highelves]

I know. But...I truly did want to ask you since the morning after prom.

[ she looks a little hesitant.. ]

I'm sorry...is that strange?

[thegoofball]

[Lance considers that for a moment, before shrugging.]

I dunno. Doesn't seem strange to me.

[highelves]

[ she grins and closes her eyes. ]

...I'm glad you think so.

[thegoofball]

[The smile on his face is soft, and he hums along to the song as they dance.

This is...nice. It's a nice change of pace.]

[highelves]

[ it is nice. she smiles a little wider when he starts humming. ana can't describe exactly what she feels -- it's just...very warm. she's trying not to delude herself into believing that this really means anything, but it's hard. she attempts to attribute it to this just being the first time she's dancing with someone, sober...but she knows that's not entirely it, either.

she hesitates, but takes a small step closer. ]

[It's a nice moment. It's quiet and peaceful and just...comfortable. He feels comfortable around Ana, and it's much better than the dance at prom.]
