[He doesn't feel particularly smooth.]

[ she lightly pulls him closer. ]

In any case, I'm hoping that I'll have pleasant dreams tonight with you here.

[He lets himself be pulled closer, grinning even wider.]

I'm sure you will. I'll keep all those nightmares away.

Sounds like a plan. I need to get up around eight tomorrow morning, but until then...

[ she smiles at him and tucks her head beneath his chin. ]

Maybe we should get some sleep?

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

[He closes his eyes, still smiling.

He feels...so incredibly lucky.]

[ she smiles softly before she drifts off to sleep.

and boy, her dreams are certainly not pleasant. ana's eyes sting with tears, and she keeps shifting around and shaking, should lance be woken up by her tossing and turning. ]

[Lance's sleep is mostly peaceful, until he gets woken up in the middle of the night. He blinks for a moment, before he realizes what's happening.]

Ana?

[He shakes her gently, trying to wake her up.]

Hey, Ana!

[ the shaking snaps her out of her nightmare, brings her back to the present which is arguably much more enjoyable than dreams of adelaide lunging at her and draining her again. her eyes open and she lets out a quiet gasp. it takes her a second to register lance's face, but when she does, she starts to calm down. ]

...Lance?

[ she sniffles and realizes belatedly that she'd been crying. ]

I -- I'm sorry.

Hey, hey, it's okay.

[He reaches a hand up, brushing away her tears.]

Bad dreams?

[ she nods.

it starts to hit her that lance doesn't deserve someone as broken as she is. ]

I...I'm so sorry to trouble you...

It's not troubling me at all.

[He keeps his hand on her cheek, trying to just...somehow impart that he's not bothered by this. Of course she had nightmares. She was just attacked by a vampire. That's going to leave marks.]

Do you want to talk about it?

I...

[ he's being so kind to her when she doesn't know what she did to warrant any of this. it's definitely not unwanted; it's just surprising. she wants to tell him, but... ]

I just have to work through this. I'll be fine.

Okay.

[He doesn't quite believe her, but he's not going to press the issue. She'll talk about it when she's ready, and forcing it's not going to do her any good.]

Okay... I'm here for you if you need me, okay?

[ she nods and looks up at him. ]

Actually...there's one thing you can do for me, if you wouldn't mind.

What is it?

[He doesn't mind at all - he wants to help.]

It's...silly. But...

[ she blushes a little. ]

I could use a distraction, if you aren't too tired. I would much rather this not ruin my night with you.

What kind of distraction do you need?

[He's a little tired, but it's nothing too bad. He can handle staying up for a little while longer.]

Hm.

[ she looks embarrassed, but... ]

I think kisses would be nice.

[He laughs, before nodding.]

Yeah, I think so too.

[He leans in, kissing her soft and sweetly.]

[ she definitely wasn't wrong. it's really sweet, and ana moves her hand to gently cup his cheek. she kisses him slowly, softly.

she's very glad lance offered to come over. ]

[He's glad he came over too, even if won't say as much. It feels like an unspoken thing, though, that he's glad to be there.

He's glad he can help.]

[ she kisses him for a little while longer before she pulls away. when she does, there's a small smile on her face. ]

...I hope I did a little better that time.

Way better.

[He smiles back at her.]

That must be because I have a pro teaching me.

[ she laughs a little. ]

I still can't believe that this is happening.
