I've been okay. Kind of...regretting that I didn't get to join everyone at the big fight.

[ ah. she frowns a little. ]

Why is that?

[thegoofball]

Well...

[He hesitates, before letting out a breath.]

Everyone was there, doing their part, but I...didn't do anything. At all.

[highelves]

You shouldn't feel guilty.

[ she closes her eyes, still moving to the music, but... ]

It was...a lot, out there. If you didn't feel as though you were ready, nobody will fault you for it.

But I could have helped. I don't think any of us were ready for it, so that's not...really a good excuse.

[highelves]

...There's no point in dwelling on it, Lance. Just be prepared to join us when the next battle happens.

[ she sounds like she's speaking from experience. ]

For what it's worth, [ she gently squeezes his shoulder. ] I'm glad that both of us are still here.

...Right.

[He gives her a small smile.]

Me, too. I'm glad you made it out okay.

[ she gives him a small smile in return and nods. ]

I couldn't let myself lose when I owed you another dance.

[He can't help himself. He laughs, shaking his head.]

You didn't owe me anything.

[highelves]

I know. But...I truly did want to ask you since the morning after prom.

[ she looks a little hesitant.. ]

I'm sorry...is that strange?

[thegoofball]

[Lance considers that for a moment, before shrugging.]

I dunno. Doesn't seem strange to me.

[highelves]

[ she grins and closes her eyes. ]

...I'm glad you think so.

[thegoofball]

[The smile on his face is soft, and he hums along to the song as they dance.

This is...nice. It's a nice change of pace.]

[highelves]

[ it is nice. she smiles a little wider when he starts humming. ana can't describe exactly what she feels -- it's just...very warm. she's trying not to delude herself into believing that this really means anything, but it's hard. she attempts to attribute it to this just being the first time she's dancing with someone, sober...but she knows that's not entirely it, either.

she hesitates, but takes a small step closer. ]

[It's a nice moment. It's quiet and peaceful and just...comfortable. He feels comfortable around Ana, and it's much better than the dance at prom.]

...Y'know, this is nice.

[highelves]

[ it is. it really is. ]

You think so?

[ she smiles. ] I'm glad you think so, because I agree.

[thegoofball]

It's way better than our dance at prom, at least.

[Because that was...Well. It certainly was a thing.]

[highelves]

Much better.

[ she pauses for a second before she puts her arms around his neck. ]

Is this alright?

[thegoofball]

Of course.

[How is he supposed to handle this? His cheeks go a little pink, but hopefully she doesn't notice.]

[ hers are too, so it's fine. the song changed -- still appropriate for the moment, mind you -- and ana hasn't even noticed.

she closes her eyes and breathes out a quiet sigh. ]

[aaaaaaaaaah.

This is just getting nicer and nicer. It's a welcome change of pace, and Lance's hands on her are nervous. He doesn't know what to do with himself, but he doesn't want to ruin the moment.]

[ she looks up on him, and she notices that he seems nervous. ana frowns a little. ]

Are you alright, Lance?

[thegoofball]

Never been better.

[He just...doesn't want to ruin things. Not when they're going so well.]

Just trying not to embarrass myself.

[highelves]

Me too, actually.

[ she laughs softly. ]

That makes two of us.

Well, I think you're doing a pretty good job right now. Nothing embarrassing about this at all.
