[He's going to die.

He lets her take his hand, threading their fingers together.]

I'll be here, whenever you need me.

[ he says that...and ana feels her heart melt. it feels strange, but it feels warm, and her cheeks feel warm again as she squeezes his hand. she looks at him with surprise again, but her expression melts into something more sincere. grateful. the way she holds his hand feels like she's asking him not to leave.

i'll be here, whenever you need me. the cynical part of her wants to say that there's no way he can promise that -- but she's fighting those thoughts off, because she wants this to be real.

she wants to believe in someone, even if it's just this once.

ana has to scoot in a little closer so she can lean in for another kiss. ]

[Being around Ana is so...comfortable. It's nice, feeling like he can just be himself around somebody. He doesn't feel like he has something to prove. He can just be himself and he's accepted and he didn't realize how much that would mean to him.

He's still surprised when she kisses him, though he leans into it. Kissing Ana is nice.

It makes him feel like he's doing something right. That she trusts him. Maybe they're just kisses, but they mean a lot to him.]

[ it's scary, taking a leap of faith, opening up and being vulnerable around someone. it's even more weird, considering how long lance and ana have actually known each other for. time, however, doesn't concern ana; her connection to him feels strong. it's not strong in the sense where they know everything about one another, because they don't, but that they can feel happy and comfortable like this means more to her than words can ever express.

she's hoping that the kiss will be able to. and the next one, and the one after that. she can't help herself. she squeezes his hand. her kisses are soft and warm. ]

[Actions speak louder than words, in this case. Every kiss makes his heart pound, and it's overwhelming. He's not sure what to do about any of this. He's afraid of doing something wrong.

But right now he's just acting on instinct.

He raises his free hand, cupping her cheek softly. His movements are gentle, slow, not wanting to rush into anything or force anything. He just wants to be close to her. He just wants to hold her.]

[ she's pretty afraid of messing this up, too. it's evident that lance is more experienced in the world of romance and ana's only just dipping her toes into it. she leans into his touch, just a little, before her free hand rises to rest on top of his.

she doesn't want to rush anything too, but she doesn't exactly want to stop. ]

[Lance might have more experience, but he's never felt anything like this. Somehow, Ana came into his life and...made an impact. Made him feel something he doesn't usually feel.

It's overwhelming, and a little scare, and he pulls back and laughs softly.]

This is nice. This is...really, really nice.

[ she could say the same on all fronts. ]

It is. Did I get too carried away there?

[ she laughs quietly, too, the tip of her nose brushing lightly against his. ]

Nah, I don't think so.

[He laughs again, unable to stop grinning.]

I like it.

[ she can't stop smiling either. ]

I could kiss you all night, if I'm being perfectly honest.

Hey, I wouldn't mind that.

[It'd be a welcome change of pace.]

[ oh no cute. she laughs... ]

Is that an invitation?

Maybe.

[smfh]

"Maybe"?

[He laughs again.]

It was definitely an invitation.

[ he's so cute. ana laughs again before she leans in to kiss him. even though they've already kissed several times, the butterflies won't stop. it's a strange feeling, but it isn't unwelcome. ]

[He can't believe any of this is happening. He came over because he was worried about her, and he still is, but...

He gets to be close to her. He gets to kiss her. He would have never thought this would be happening, but it is, and it makes him so happy.]

[ it definitely is. she keeps kissing him again, and now it's her turn to use her hand to cup his cheek. she can't help but laugh a little -- she's just that happy, apparently. ]

[How did he get so lucky...

He really doesn't know. But he'll keep kissing Ana until she gets tired of him, laughing along with her.]

[ it's not until several moments later when ana finally pulls away. she needs a moment to catch her breath, but when she does, she smiles and touches her forehead to his. ]

Am I getting any better at it?

[She's so cute, wth.]

Oh, yeah, definitely. You're gonna be an expert in no time.

I'm glad to hear it.

[ she grins again. she'll probably feel more insecure about this later, when she has time to think. right now, though...she's just too elated. ]

[All he's done is be here for her. That's not anything worth thanking.]

For making me happy, of course. Wanting to be there for me.
