[He laughs, sheepish.]

I don't know, I thought it was a cool line.

[ she laughs.... ]

Well, I think I may be falling a little harder than that, personally.

[Oh. Oh, geez. His cheeks go bright red, and he clears his throat.]

Nothing wrong with that.

Ah... Was that a little much?

[thegoofball]

[Lance considers it for a moment, before shaking his head.]

Nah. I don't think so.

[highelves]

Right...

[ Ana squeezes his hand. ]

I suppose it’s because you just...make me really happy.

[thegoofball]

You make me pretty happy, too.

[He squeezes her hand back, smiling encouragingly.]

Like nobody I've ever known before.

[highelves]

Really...?

[ she sounds so surprised. ]

Yeah, really.

[And isn't that terrifying to admit?]

...Lance...

[ she just sounds like she can’t believe it. Ana squeezes his hand again, tighter this time. she’s scared he’ll let her go, that he’ll walk out on her—but right now, more than anything, she wants to be here, next to him.

she touches her forehead to his. ]

[He smiles, leaning into the touch. This is...a moment he doesn't want to end. He feels so at peace. So calm. Anything that happens can't ruin how he feels right now, in this moment.

He's glad he came.]

[ Ana smiles and closes her eyes, brushing her thumb over the back of his hand. ]

Why me...?

I told you, didn't I?

[It's probably a question she's not expecting an answer to, but...]

Because there's something special about you.

[highelves]

I...I suppose it’s just hard for me to see what that could be.

[ she sighs, leaning into him. ]

You aren’t required to answer. I’m just surprised.

[thegoofball]

You don't have to see it for it to be true.

[He raises a hand to brush it through her hair.]

Mm...

[ she closes her eyes. it feels nice. she only wishes she could believe him fully. ]

[Some day she'll believe him, and Lance will just have to gloat about it.

That'll be a good day.]

[ indeed. for now, though, ana is content to fall asleep again. hopefully this time, she'll have better dreams -- and indeed, she does.

she sleeps until the sun rises and her alarm goes off at 8am. ana lets out a little groan as she stirs. ana opens her eyes and curls into lance again. ]

[Lance doesn't drift off as easily as Ana does, but he does eventually manage to get to sleep.

And then he gets woken up by an alarm, which is strange, because he doesn't usually set an alarm. He groans, stretching out. That's about when he realizes he's sharing the bed with another person.]

Wha...?

[He blinks his eyes open, slowly, staring at Ana.]

[highelves]

[ she blinks her eyes, too, like she almost forgot that last night happened.

but it did, right? ...unless...no, it definitely happened. ]

...Good morning, Lance.

[ does he regret it? ]

[Last night definitely happen, and as he slowly wakes up he slowly remembers everything that happens.

He smiles at Ana, kind of like a dope.]

Good morning. How are you feeling?

[No regrets!]

[highelves]

[ thank goodness. she breathes out a quiet sigh of relief as she smiles back at him. ]

I feel...a little better. Your company certainly helped me sleep a little more peacefully.

[ she still looks tired, but at least she seems happy. her hand is still holding his, and she gives it a little squeeze. ]
