[He doesn't say "You're perfect", but he certainly thinks it. He certainly feels it, as he lays there and slowly grins at her.]

[He leans in, pressing their lips together again.]

[ she almost said the same thing, to be fair. when he kisses her again, ana smiles before she deepens the kiss. her fingers brush through his hair.

all she can think about is getting closer to him. ]

[They're hopeless.

He raises a hand in turn, carding his fingers through her hair. He deepens the kiss again, feeling out of his depth, but...If it's fine with her, it's fine with him.]

[ they sure are.

it's definitely fine with her. she's nearly breathless from how he's kissing her, but she doesn't mind it one bit. she lets out a little sigh against his lips, a sign that she's feeling very content, and she leans in closer. ]

[They're so close, and his heart is pounding in his chest. He kisses her deeply, a fire in his heart, before he pulls back to catch his breath.]

This okay?

[ she pulls back, too, cheeks pink. she's smiling though, and she nods. ]

It's better than okay, Lance.

[He feels...warm.]

Okay. Okay, good.

[And then he leans in close to kiss her again.]

[ so does she. she's a little too eager to kiss him back, and her fingers curl in his hair again. she kisses him deeply as the hand in his hand moves down to rest on his chest, right over his heartbeat. ]

[She'll be able to feel his heart pounding against his chest, an intense tattoo that he's no longer in control of. He's overwhelmed. He's in awe. He's so many things that all he can do is kiss her and kiss her and hope his feelings are getting across.]

[ she definitely can, and her fingers curl against him as she kisses him over and over again. she gets as close as she possibly can to him, and her hand latches onto the fabric of his shirt, lightly clinging, pulling him closer. ]

[He feels like his heart might burst. He presses as close to her as he can, cupping her cheek, and everything is just...intense. It's more intense than anything he's ever felt before.

He doesn't know what to do.]

[ she doesn't know, either. she just wants to be with him and kiss him and-- god, she doesn't know where this is going to go. all she knows is that she just wants to do whatever she can to make him happy.

she rests her hand over his and squeezes it. it's her way of letting him know that this is okay, and if he wants to stop, she's okay with that, too. they'll figure this out together, right? ]

[Eventually, he pulls back. He has to catch his breath, and just...take a moment to come to terms with things. He sprawls back on his back, and then...

Slowly, he starts to laugh, building and building until his body is shaking from it. He's just...so, so overwhelmingly happy.]

[ she blinks a little when he lies on his back, and then he starts laughing. his laughter is contagious...so she starts laughing too, leaning her head against his shoulder. ]

A-Are you alright?

Yeah.

[He eventually calms down. This entire situation is...ridiculous. Amazing. Ridiculously amazing.

He can't believe it at all.]

Never been better, honestly.

[ she smiles at him when he comes down from it, leaning her head on his shoulder. ]

I can say the same thing.

Yeah...

[He smiles at her, before leaning his head back against the bed and looking up at the ceiling.]

But...We should probably get to know each other better, huh?

[ she nods immediately. ]

Of course we should.

[ she hums pensively. ]

...I'm not quite sure where to start, though. Would you happen to have any ideas?

Well...

[Hmm. Where do you start with this?]

Well, what's your family like?

[ oh.

........ ]

Well, I.

[ she's kind of...fumbling around with her words at this point. ]

Calling them "family" is a little...generous, in my opinion.

[At that, Lance blinks, propping himself up so he can look down at Ana.]

What do you mean?

[He can't fathom not having a family...]

[ she closes her eyes, inhales and exhales deeply. she doesn't want to ruin the mood, but lance asked, and he deserves an honest answer. ]

I never really knew my father. He...left when I was around five years old.

[ she looks up at the ceiling. ]

And my mother followed suit when I was fourteen.

[Oh.

Well, that explains why they're not much of a family. Lance goes quiet for a moment, processing this.]

I'm sorry.

[Even though the words probably don't mean much, he means it. Nobody deserves that. Family is one of the things that should mean something. Family should be there for you through thick and thin.

He's sorry she doesn't have that.]

What did you do after that?

Hmm. I lived on the streets for a bit before a kind shop owner took me in. He allowed me to live in the attic of his convenience store for several years, up until he discovered that I knew rune magic.

[ her tone is leveled, like she's told this story over and over again. she hasn't, but she doesn't want lance to have to feel bad for her. ]

That was when he sent me to Daybreak. He's attuned to the supernatural, but believed he lacked the experience to support me in my endeavors.

[Lance nods, slowly, absorbing that. She was on the streets...That's awful.]

I'm glad you had someone there for you.

[And he is. He's glad there was someone who could give her a home. He doesn't know if she considered that a home, but...
